Vice President of Construction

Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • The Vice President is responsible for the overall quality and completion of each project. He oversees the Thompson Thrift Construction Team to ensure compliance with contract documents, to mitigate financial exposure, and to see that the project turns over to property management as quickly as possible. He / She works very closely with the Executive Team, the developers and the team on policies, procedures, and coordination of projects.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Oversees the completion and accuracy of CA Reports and the Construction Dashboard.
  • Visits each project under construction at least twice per year.
  • Leads monthly Thompson Thrift Residential Owner’s Rep Team Meeting and Construction Update Meeting.
  • Mentors the Project Executives of Construction.
  • Plans for future needs for his/her department.
  • Helps direct reports solve difficult and complex issues that require assistance.
  • Ensures that the projects are being delivered at a very high level of quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in the area of Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
  • Five or more years of experience in a similar Multi-family construction supervisory role.
  • Advanced computer skills, including MS Office, project management tracking and scheduling software, and Professional Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to operate independently and use good judgment.
  • Proficiency in writing and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Leadership skills, diplomacy, tact, and a positive attitude.

Organization, ability to prioritize, concentration and stress management will be skills necessary to complete the required tasks.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member may occasionally work at construction work sites, remote work locations or other non-office locations where the team member is exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and the risk of electrical shock. The noise in the construction work environment is usually moderate to loud. The team member is required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

Performing this job will sometimes require the team member to walk work sites that do not have infrastructure, this includes walking on uneven surfaces, through mud, through ruts, etc. The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
