Job Description

Thompson Thrift is seeking a Full-Time Senior Director, Market Research to work out of the corporate office in Indianapolis, IN. This role has high-level responsibility to gather, interpret, and analyze wide ranging forms of research and data to inform strategic business decisions related to the Company’s annual multifamily real estate development activities. The role will have direct interaction with the Thompson Thrift Executive Team relative to market research that influences key investment decisions.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop, cultivate, and maintain contacts within and outside the industry that allow the company to keep a pulse on what is happening within the industry and the greater economy.
  • Analyze various forms of industry data that enable the Company to better understand national, regional, and submarket trends in the housing industry.
  • Analyze supply and demand, multifamily performance trends, and single-family performance trends on a regular basis.
  • Provide reliable and consistent monthly reporting to the Executive Team on select key industry metrics.
  • Work collaboratively with Thompson Thrift Residential development regions to uncover trends that help contribute key insights on varying markets and submarkets.
  • Prepare multifamily market outlook report for Company investors on a periodic basis.
  • Aggregate and utilize data and research from existing industry sources that include RealPage, CoStar, John Burns Research and Consulting, National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC), National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), and various brokerage companies, forming conclusions to report to the Executive Team.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, finance, or related field.
  • 10 years of progressive experience in real estate market research. Prefer experience in multifamily. A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing people.
  • Sound working knowledge of economic, financial, and general business concepts and terminology is required.
  • Superior analytical ability background is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills required.
  • Ability to operate independently and interpret data as required.
  • Advanced computer skills, including MS Excel, Office, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. GIS experience preferred.

Performing this job will sometimes require the employee to walk work sites that do not have infrastructure, this includes walking on uneven surfaces, through mud, through ruts, etc. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office or remote setting. The noise in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in an office setting. The noise in the construction work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
