Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Responsible for supervising the work of team members engaged in farm care, lawn care, animal care, carpentry or labor work for the repair, alteration, maintenance, construction, and installation of structures and equipment. Work is performed under general direction of the Property Owner and is reviewed through inspection while in progress and upon completion.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ability to effectively supervise general labor, skilled workers and contracted staff.
  • Ability to run farm equipment, lawn care, grounds keeping and basic maintenance for a family ranch operation.
  • Skill in the use of standard tools and equipment of the trades.
  • Plans, organizes, schedules, supervises, and inspects the work of skilled and semi-skilled engaged in repair, alteration, and project work.
  • Inspects buildings or other structures and items reported to be in need of repair; considers need for repair and estimated time and materials; requisitions materials and supplies.
  • Establishes standards for safety and performance for subordinates and inspects quantity and quality of work against these standards.
  • Maintains and reports material, labor, and time costs.
  • Makes long term project plans and sets up schedules for completion.
  • Performs physically demanding work, indoors and outdoors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Five years of experience working as a lead on a farm or ranch, lawn care, grounds keeping and carpenter experience a plus.
  • Supervisory experience with emphasis on leading, motivating and managing a diverse team.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to efficiently analyze and organize significant amounts of information regarding plan layouts, material deliveries and jobsite productivities.
  • Take on initiative to get things done, eye for details and self driven to complete tasks.
