Job Description

Thompson Thrift is seeking a Market Research Intern for our corporate office located in Indianapolis, IN. The Market Research Intern will share in the accomplishment of the Company’s annual multifamily real estate development objectives. Major roles include, but are not limited to, maintenance and reporting of resident and community area demographics, GIS (geographic information system) mapping needs, creating and maintaining Market Intel reports, ongoing Quarterly Market Tracking and Prioritization, as well as other market and site-specific information needs of the development and property management teams.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and predict market development trends.
  • Measure effectiveness of current marketing and development strategies.
  • Evaluate and develop new ways to collect and manage market data, which includes vendor-supplied information, primary and secondary research.
  • Collect data on market conditions, competitor properties and potential future residents.
  • Organize and interpret data using appropriate statistical analysis tools.
  • Create visualizations using GIS mapping where possible.
  • Translate complex findings into actionable insights.
  • Generate reports and data visualizations for use in presenting findings to clients and senior management.

Qualifications

  • Student with a minimum one - two years college experience in Business, Marketing or Economics related fields.
  • Candidate has excellent communication skills and interest in the automotive industry.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and be naturally curious.
  • Recent experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential.
  • Recent experience in data visualization tools such as Power BI or equivalent is preferred.
  • Technical and newsletter/blog-style writing experience is preferred.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in computer skills (Microsoft Office products)
  • Ability to routinely work in a hands-on manner

Performing this job will sometimes require the employee to walk work sites that do not have infrastructure, this includes walking on uneven surfaces, through mud, through ruts, etc. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office or remote setting. The noise in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work at construction work sites where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and the risk of electrical shock. The noise in the construction work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
