Land Acquisition Analyst

Job Description

Thompson Thrift is seeking a Full-Time Land Acquisition Analyst to work out of the corporate office in Indianapolis, IN. The Land Acquisition Analyst is responsible for locating, researching, and contracting new land suitable for acquisition and development. The Analyst is responsible for a variety of real estate development duties including the creation of financial models for new development, determining development viability through filtering of company key performance indicators, researching and analyzing market data within various submarkets, and generating project reports for key decision makers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Locate land suitable for acquisition and development by conducting the necessary market research and due diligence.
  • Evaluate potential new development sites for zoning, market, and financial feasibility.
  • Underwrite and create financial models for new development opportunities.
  • Determine land values in the specific market by checking like property sales by means of public records, developers, and other professional affiliates.
  • Negotiate and contract land acquisition. Coordinate internally the creation of essential reports for investors and debt institutions.


Bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, or a relevant field of study. Experience in real estate investment, development, or brokerage is preferred. Knowledge of key financial concepts and metrics as they relate to the real estate industry. Understanding economic indicators as they relate to valuing multifamily real estate. Proficiency in MS Office is required.

Performing this job will sometimes require the employee to walk work sites that do not have infrastructure, this includes walking on uneven surfaces, through mud, through ruts, etc. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

The noise in the construction work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
