IT Network and Systems Administrator

Job Description

Thompson Thrift is seeking to hire a full-time IT Network and Systems Administrator in the corporate office in Indianapolis, IN. The system administrator's responsibilities include troubleshooting hardware, IAAS cloud, software, firewall and networking issues, as well as ensuring that all computing operations run with optimal performance and security. A system administrator should have an excellent ability to solve problems using an in-depth understanding of information systems and computing solutions. The ability and desire to continuously learn technologies is also essential for success.


Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Configuring and maintaining the networked computer system, including hardware, I.A.A.S. cloud, system software, and applications.
  • Ensuring data is stored securely and backed up regularly.
  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, networking, and system issues when they arise.
  • Replacing and upgrading defective or outdated components when necessary.
  • Monitoring system and network performance to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely.
  • Researching and recommending new approaches to improve the networked computer system.
  • Providing technical support when requested.
  • Documenting any processes which employees need to follow in order to successfully work within our computing system.
  • Testing and installation of firmware and operating system patches.
  • Configuration and maintenance of network firewall.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree or diploma in Information systems or information technology
  • 2 years past experience administering server-side technology and networked computing systems desired.
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate desired
  • Amazon Web Services Certified Cloud Practitioner desired
  • Ability to prioritize a wide range of workloads with critical deadlines.
  • Experience with MS Windows Powershell desired.
  • Experience with Cisco Meraki Firewall desired.
  • Availability outside of working hours to resolve emergency issues promptly.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Patient and professional demeanor, with a can-do attitude.

The employee occasionally performs work on-site at construction work sites, office locations, and/or off-site venues. Performing this job will sometimes require the employee to walk work sites that do not have infrastructure, this includes walking on uneven surfaces, through mud, through ruts, etc. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office or remote setting. The noise in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work at construction work sites where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and the risk of electrical shock. The noise in the construction work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
