Development Project Engineer

Job Description
The successful candidate will be located in the Southwest Region (Phoenix, Arizona) and assist with retail development opportunities throughout the southwest as designated by the company or specific clients. The Development Project Engineer's primary role will be to assist the Vice President of the Southwest Region in the sourcing, researching, underwriting and development of retail development opportunities in the region. The
Project Engineer
will contribute to the company’s success by initially providing support for newly sourced retail development projects, initial site due diligence, site planning, property entitlements, permitting, and promoting the company’s growth in the region. In time, the goal for the
Project Engineer
position will be to transition into a role within the company that allows the
Project Engineer
to fully manage larger projects.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Communicate all updates, issues and risks affecting the projects to the Vice President of the Southwest Region.
Communicate project status to project team members and stakeholders accurately and on time.
Assist, initiate and/or direct the entitlement process associated with assigned projects.
Assist in the management of the due diligence process in order to ensure that all development risks are identified and managed appropriately.
Work efficiently in a team of professional partners and consultants to ensure effective project delivery.
Support development efforts by working closely with other departments within the company to advance assigned projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 - 4 years of experience in Commercial Real Estate with a strong preference in retail development.
- Four-year college degree in Business/ Real Estate or equivalent experience.
- Local and regional market knowledge and contacts preferred.
- Prospecting, deal making, and negotiating experience.
- Experience with financial analysis, underwriting, and transaction management.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- The desire to work in an environment built around a culture of collaboration, integrity, and accountability with a strong sense of urgency.
- Must have a high degree of self-motivation.

Performing this job will sometimes require the employee to walk work sites that do not have infrastructure, this includes walking on uneven surfaces, through mud, through ruts, etc. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

The noise in the construction work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
