Overview:

The Cost Associate will support the Cost Analyst team by performing a variety of clerical accounting tasks in support of the accounting function. This position is responsible for ensuring that subcontractors and suppliers are paid in a timely manner on the projects and that appropriate lien waivers are received from sub-contractors, their suppliers and TTC material suppliers.   The Cost Associate ensures that the owner billing is done monthly and can be tied to actual work completed.

  • Associates Degree or some college experience

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Performs work under direct supervision. Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.
  • Requires an Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field of study.
  • 1 year of experience preferred, internships or voluntary positions considered as work experience
  • Organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Problem-solving skills. Mathematical skills. Oral and written communication skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Compiles and sorts invoices and checks.
  • Facilitates accounts payable duties.
  • Records business transactions.
  • Updates key performance dashboard with manpower data, change order logs, and aged back charges.
  • Assists Cost Analysts and project teams in various tasks throughout the project life cycle.   
  • Utilizes computer systems to update databases, pay bills and track down lien waivers.
  • Ensures accurate cost records and keeps the records up to date.
  • Tests and identifies opportunities for process improvements and assists Cost Analyst team in implementation of various improvements.
  • Understands how activities and their costs are linked to products, processes, and customers.
  • Tracks monthly costs and production activity to provide insight into areas needing cost reduction and process or profit improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned

Performing this job will sometimes require the employee to walk work sites that do not have infrastructure, this includes walking on uneven surfaces, through mud, through ruts, etc. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
