Construction Management Program Associate

Job Description

The Construction Associate will job shadow our construction team to gain practical experience in the field of construction project management, to earn college credit and to gain valuable work experience in the field. In this paid position students entering the program will be exposed to multiple functions within construction while attending classes at Ivy Tech. These area include estimating, pre-construction, subcontractor procurement, Field project engineer, and exposure to business unit teams within residential development and community management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Essential function of this role will be the attendance of secondary education courses and maintaining the GPA of 3.0.
  • Committed to college level course study.
  • Attends assigned college level courses.
  • Learns organizational processes and procedures.
  • Contributes to assigned projects and may assist with the development and maintenance of documentation or records.
  • Reviews project plans, proposals, and objectives.
  • In coordination with the project management team, reviews responsibilities and builds schedules based on project specifications.
  • Works with the team to review, determine and stay within budget.
  • Works with outside vendors.
  • Reports to management team on progress.
  • Recommends plan and schedule changes when necessary.
  • Complies with state and federal regulations and ensures a clean and safe environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Active High School Student.
  • Junior and Senior year of high school for the internship portion of the program.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Committed to obtaining a 2 year Associates Degree
  • Performs work under direct supervision.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret all types of contract documents relating to construction
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong technical & computer skills including: Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit software is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter.

The employee occasionally performs work on-site at construction work sites, office locations, and/or off-site venues. Performing this job will sometimes require the employee to walk work sites that do not have infrastructure, this includes walking on uneven surfaces, through mud, through ruts, etc. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office or remote setting. The noise in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work at construction work sites where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and the risk of electrical shock. The noise in the construction work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
