Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Provide civil site planning and design support for assigned Thompson Thrift Construction projects using AutoCAD and related drafting software, as well as prepare landscaping, architectural, and other graphical exhibits necessary. Uses computer-aided design (CAD) software to prepare technical drawings, plans, and cost estimates with visual guidelines for construction of buildings and other structures.



ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Provide civil and architectural drafting and design support to Thompson Thrift Construction projects using AutoCAD and related drafting software.
• Produces technical drawings based on rough sketches, specifications, and calculations from engineers, surveyors, and architects.
• Makes revisions and addendums to jobs already in the field.
• Utilizes multiple engineering methods. Writes detailed reports, calculates material amounts and costs, and prepares construction specifications and timelines.
• Assist Preconstruction team as necessary with plan takeoffs, and drafting design details
• Coordinate with external players as necessary such as brokers, consultants, and municipal agents
• Interpret and apply building and municipal codes as directed.
• Perform site related calculations to include on drawings (areas, parking ratios, etc.)
• Manage document revisions, storage and maintenance.
• Maintain standard drawing guidelines.
• All other duties as assigned.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Skills and Abilities

• Two-year college degree in Civil Engineering and / or Architectural/CAD field required with four- year degree preferred.
• Three to five years of experience in the preparation of site plans, architectural footprints, elevations and renderings for retail projects.
• Strong computer skills including the use of AutoCAD and all related drafting software.
• Knowledge of Revit and Sketch up a plus
• Strong understanding of multifamily building layout, unit mixes, entrances, parking, site circulation, and utility connections
• General understanding of site-specific constraints; such as detention areas, easements, conservation areas, etc.
• Ability to research zoning ordinances/other site constraining documents and incorporate site specific details such as setbacks, easements, utilities, etc.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites including Outlook and Blue Beam.
• Ability to prepare complex schematic drawings from rough sketches and oral instructions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while continuing to meet project deadlines.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
