Business Systems Analyst

Job Description

Thompson Thrift is seeking to hire a full-time Business Systems Analyst in the corporate office in Indianapolis, IN. The Business Systems Analyst serves as a liaison among stakeholders to elicit, analyze, communicate, and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies, and information systems. The individual in this role must understand business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommend solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals. In addition, this role acts as a lead software architect and is involved in multiple phases of complex software implementation, integration, or development projects, and provides tier 3 support for enterprise software.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the documentation of formal requirements, use cases, user stories, test plans, test cases, and test scripts which ensure that the software solutions developed/implemented and tested are fit for purpose, meet business needs, and are operationally sustainable

  • Examine user requirements, procedures, and problems to improve existing systems and automation while reviewing and analyzing technical reports, manuals, periodicals and other reference materials to develop programs to meet needs
  • Review existing computer systems to understand capabilities and make recommendations, including upgrading to and purchasing new equipment or software packages
  • Document, develop and revise system design procedures, test procedures and quality standards
  • Maintain, test and monitor computer systems and programs while coordinating installations of new programs and systems
  • Assist staff in resolving computer-related problems, such as programming errors and malfunctions, and train users on computer programs and systems
  • Consult with management to reach agreement on system operating principles, and work with clients on information computation or processing needs to be addressed
  • Supervise computer programmers or systems analysts by taking on project management lead roles in systems projects


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, business, or related field. Or an equivalent level of education and experience.
  • 4 years of progressive experience in a business analyst role. Experience in residential, commercial or construction real estate preferred.
  • CBAP and PMP certification are preferred.
  • Understands the importance of internal controls.
  • Able to work under limited supervision.
  • Has extensive experience analyzing business processes and developing software.

Performing this job will sometimes require the employee to walk work sites that do not have infrastructure, this includes walking on uneven surfaces, through mud, through ruts, etc. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

The noise in the construction work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
